Committee Work
The main event of the LARC, CLAPEM (Congreso Latinoamericano de
Probabilidad y Estadística Matemática) on its VIIIth edition, took
place on 12-16 November 2001 in Havana, Cuba with 196 participants
from 20 countries.
Francisco Aranda Ordaz Award honours the best Ph.D. thesis in
Probability and Mathematical Statistics of a Latin American student
between two editions of the CLAPEM. During the VIII CLAPEM (see above)
and among a very significant number of high-quality theses,
the jury, chaired by Prof. Guido del Pino, decided to award
