A. K. Md. Ehsanes Saleh, Distinguished Research Professor and Professor Emeritus at the School of Mathematics and Statistics has been awarded the rank of "HONORAY MEMBER" of the Statistical Society of Canada (SSC) at its 33rd Annual meeting held in Saskatoon during 12-15 June 2005.

SSC awards this rank to a statistical scientist of distinction and has contributed to the development of statistics in Canada.
His citation reads: "For landmark contribution to the developments of nonparametric methods of preliminary test and Stein-type estimators; auto-regression quantiles and order statistics;
for foundation of the graduate programs at Carleton; training of Ph.D. students and post doctorals; service to profession, especially in creative organizations of symposia with edited volumes ".

Professor Saleh is the only statistician of Bangladesh origin who is a "Fellow" of IMS, ASA and Academy of Sciences (Bangladesh). He is an elected Fellow of Royal Statistical Society, an elected Member of ISI. He was Eugene Lukacs Distinguished Professor at BGSU. He has been awarded the ISESCO-ISOSS Gold Medal for Best Researcher's award in Statistical Sciences. Bangladesh Statistical Association awarded the Q.M.Hosain Gold Medal as the most outstanding statistician of Bangladesh and Distinguished Scholar in statistical sciences. FOBANA honoured him as the "Pride of Bangladesh".

He has published extensively in many top journals. He has authored/co-authored two books (WILEY) and edited/co-edited several symposia proceedings and has delivered many invited talks around the world.
