* New lecture series in honor of Oded Schramm.
A new lecture series is being initiated in collaboration with IMS to honor the memory of Oded Schramm. Details will appear in Bernoulli News.

4- OBITUARIES
Paul Meier passed away on August 7,2011 in New York, NY, USA, age 87. The statistician who promoted the use of randomized trials in medicine is best known for introducing, with Edward L. Kaplan, the Kaplan–Meier estimator, a tool for measuring how many patients survive a medical treatment. Read an obituary at The Lancet website doi:10.1016/S0140-6736(11)61438-4.
