***New Publicity Team
New publicity team: we welcome three new members in the publicity team of the Bernoulli Society. Soutir Bandyopadhyay (Colorado School of Mines) is succeeding Erik Baurdoux (London School of Economics) as Web Editor, and Carlos Améndola (TU Munich) is succeeding Corina Constantinescu (University of Liverpool) as E-Briefs Editor. Victor Panaretos (EPFL) is also starting in the new role of Publicity Chair, coordinating efforts between the different Bernoulli Society outlets. Many thanks to Erik and Corina for their contributions!

***ERC Chair
Marloes Maathius (ETH Zurich) will be the next ERC chair, starting January 1, 2019.
***C(PS)ˆ2 Chair
Michael Beer (Leibniz University, Hannover) will be the new BS chair of C(PS)ˆ2, starting January 1, 2019.
***2018 Doeblin Prize
Jason Miller is the recipient of the 2018 Doeblin Prize. The prize is sponsored by Springer and is awarded to a single individual for outstanding research in the field of probability, and who is at the beginning of his or her mathematical career. Dr. Miller will contribute an invited Wolfgang Doeblin Prize Article in PTRF and will present the Doeblin Prize Lecture at SPA 2019. Congratulations!  
*** Bernoulli Society New Researcher Award 2019
The response to the first edition of the Bernoulli Society New Researcher Award was fabulous. The awardees are Po-Ling Loh (University of Wisconsin-Madison), Gongjun Xu (University of Michigan) and Lingzhou Xue (Pennsylvania State University). 
***Carl Friedrich Gauss Prize 2018
Bernoulli Society member David Donoho is awarded the 2018 Carl Friedrich Gauss Prize for his fundamental contributions to the mathematical, statistical and computational analysis of important problems in signal processing. The prize was awarded at the International Congress of Mathematicians in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
*** Call for Nominations for the Newbold Prize
The Ethel Newbold Prize for excellence in statistics is awarded every 2 years, next time in spring 2019. Nominations as well as any inquiries about the award should be sent to Oddbjorg Wethelund, This email address is being protected from spambots. ***41st Conference on Stochastic Processes and their Applications

SPA Conferences are organized under patronage of the Bernoulli Society and can justifiably be regarded as the most important international scientific meeting on the theory and applications of stochastic processes. They are held annually except for the years when the World Congress in Probability and Statistics takes place. 
***European Meeting of Statisticians (EMS) 2019
July 22 - 26, 2019

The European Meeting of Statisticians (EMS), sponsored by the European Regional Committee of the Bernoulli Society, is the main conference in statistics and probability in Europe. EMS is a conference where statisticians of all ages and from all regions meet to exchange ideas and talk about the newest developments on the broad field of statistics and probability theory. The conference is organized every other year. 
***62nd ISI World Statistics Congress 2019 
August 18 - 23, 2019

The Bernoulli Society (BS) invites the submission of proposals for BS-sponsored Invited Paper Sessions (IPS) at the 2019 ISI World Statistics Congress, to be held from 18 to 23 August 2019 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Proposals can be submitted as of 1 January 2018 using the electronic submission system on the WSC website.
***XV Latin American Congress of Probability and Mathematical Statistics (CLAPEM 2019)

The Congreso Latinoamericano de Probabilidad y Estadística Matemática (CLAPEM) is the official meeting of the Sociedad Latino Americana de Probabilidad y Estadística Matemática (SLAPEM), the Latin American Chapter of the Bernoulli Society.  It is the major event in Probability and Statistics in the region and it gathers an important number of researchers and students, predominantely from Latin America.
